EVALUATION OF ACCESSIBILITY, SIGNAGE & LANDSCAPING
In 2011, The Design Partnership completed a three part assessment of a cross section of 16 schools in the district.
Accessibility – Accessible routes from parking/ dropoff to entry, main office, elevator and restrooms were studied and solutions were provided.
Signage – Identification of the school, way-finding applied to the exterior and interior, and identification of all interior spaces was analyzed.
Landscape – Clean up of mature landscape materials and a concept to minimize maintenance by using perennial plantings and less lawn area was developed, with an eye to improving the visual image of the school to the community.
Rough cost estimates were also provided for use by the district for budgeting the improvements.
The final report consisted of a booklet with photos and plans as needed to convey the recommendations.
